The CD is being released on July 8th, and is available at www.winterbreakthemovie.com!06.01.03 - Jambase.com However, what really kicked the crowd into high gear was the All Mighty Senators set. As soon as they started rockin' their special Super Friends blend of rock and soul, the crowd descended the hills for an all-out freak fest. They paid homage to June Carter Cash (who recently passed) by playing a song she co-wrote with Johnny, "Ring of Fire," and the crowd jumped through the hoop with spastic glee. They got the crowd workin' with "Soul" and the horns were blastin' out the truth. One of the more humorous moments came when they broke out a false intro of "Paradise City" then launched into "Giant Steps," the teeming throng going wild, kickin' up the dirt in praise of the Transmission. Good stuff indeed.05.22.03 - Jambands.com The All Mighty Senators were next, and the pride of Baltimore delivered with foot moving funk and body rocking intensity. Bassist Jack Denny, hair blowing in the chilly wind, "Winger-style", delivered the bounce and Landis Expandis delivered the beat as the Senators got the crowd pumping. Their set featured many AMS standards, "Culture Shock" and "Power Generator" among them, as well as a helping of newer songs which delve in the all out rock and roll side of the charm city warriors. Landis dedicated their cover of "Ring of Fire" to the recently departed June Carter Cash, the song's co-author, a down note, but one that couldn't slow down the Senators. The blend of house party stylings and rock and soul grooves delighted the Marvin's Mountaintop crowd and the band was urged to play one more. Guitarist Warren Boes heavily teased "Paradise City" before dropping into Senators' staple, "Giant Steps". The invocation of Guns n' Roses was simply foreshadowing for the searing in-your-face rock and roll that lay ahead.04.10.03 - The Baltimore Sun The Sun's weekly arts and entertainment guide is new from front to back with All Mighty Senators featured as the cover story. Check out The Sun's Live! section every Thursday. Visit Sunspot.net for more.04.01.03 - Music Monthly All Mighty Senators are pleased to be the feature of the cover story article in the April issue of Music Monthly magazine. Visit www.musicmonthly.com for more.02.26.03 - Rolling Stone I bumped into these Senators when they opened for the Pretenders recently, which proves the virtue of getting to shows on time. Singer-drummer Landis Expandis hit his kit standing up, in a pimp-adelic fur hat — like a love child of Sly Stone and the Velvet Underground's Moe Tucker — as the Senators packed Family Stone-style horns and shout-along hooks into their party mix of the Roots and the Specials. "What we wanna do is take to the future in an old school time machine," Expandis claims here in "Soul." The Senators will do just that when they come your way. For now, enjoy these jams and the irony in the title song. The punch line: "No, it's not!" (Rolling Stone issue 918 >> March 20, 2003, page 66, Out There with David Fricke)02.15.03 - Billboard Let's be Frank (Zappa) about this: You could count on both paws the bands who've been able to handle the two-headed viper of humor and good music. Here's one of them. OK, they've probably listened to 'Just Another Band From L.A.' more than a few times, but really, these guys are somethin else. Clam-tight funk/rock/soul swirls of songs that are more fun than watching someone attempting to retrieve a card from a non-cooperating ATM. And the Senators can deliver giggle-but-think social commentary, as in the conservation funk-fest 'Mother Nature's Afro': We're cutting holes / In mother nature's afro / And if we keep on letting our mother go bald / There will be no supper tonight. Hot, hot, hot! Catch the Senators while they are currently on tour with the Pretenders. Billboard volume 115, number 7, February 15, 2003, page 28. Adrian Zupp02.10.03 - The Boston Globe The opening act, the All Mighty Senators, was outstanding. The group dazzeled with a driving sound akin to Sly Stone meeting Fishbone, with a little Stevie Ray Vaughn thrown in. It was a wild melange of styles, with singer Landis Expandis and guitarist Warren Boes leading the joyful, dance-laden grooves that zipped from hip-hop to funk and rock without missing a beat. (This exerpt of a article on the Pretenders with All Mighty Senators by Steve Morse is copyright 2003 Globe Newspaper Company)01.28.03 - E! Online Music Scoop When it came upon Hynde's shoulders to pick an opening band for the Pretenders' tour, she offered it to Baltimore's All Mighty Senators, and I can certainly see why. You can hear the goofy fun all through this upbeat quartet's brand-new release, Music Is Big Business--a delightful romp that sounds like a right cross between the P-Funk All Stars, Devo and the Mothers of Invention, with some soulful left hooks thrown in to stir things up. (from E! Online Pamela Des Barres01.14.03 - Music Is Big Business national release Music Is Big Business will hit stores nationwide on February 11, 2003. Stay tuned to the website for a list of retail chains where you will be able to purchase it.12.16.02 - All Mighty Senators confirmed on the Pretenders North American Tour All Mighty Senators have been picked by Chrissie Hynde as the support act for the Pretenders 2003 North American tour starting on January 27th in Atlanta, GA and ending in Seattle, WA on March 9th. The 41-day tour will be traveling through the historic theatres of 27 US and Canadian cities. The tour celebrates the new Pretenders CD ''Loose Screw'' as well as All Mighty Senators' ''Music is Big Business.'' Check out www.pretendersband.com, www.pretendersarchives.com or our tour dates page for more information.10.25.02 - New website launched All Mighty Senators dot com. New, improved and growing. Please bear with us as we make updates to the website.10.15.02 - All-star line-up Jams with Little Feat for 25th Anniversary Show Little Feat celebrated its 25th anniversary last night by performing its 1978 live release Waiting for Columbus at George Washington University's Lisner Auditorium, where the album was originally recorded. An all-star cast of musicians joined the band throughout the night. The line-up included Jackson Browne, Levon Helm, Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring, Drew Emmitt, Vince Herman, Sonny Landreth, Stephen Bruton, Joe Ely, Lenny Pickett, the All Mighty Senators horn section, Ron Holloway and writer/director/actor Billy Bob Thornton, who added lead vocals to "Dixie Chicken," which closed the second set.
